Ways to Use Facebook to Benefit Your Business

By Edgar Chock

What can be said about the power of Facebook as a place for doing business? These days, Facebook is integral to the way we live our lives-even in the business world. In fact, if your business isn't listed on Facebook, you might be doing yourself quite a lot of harm! Of course joining Facebook doesn't automatically help your business or make you money. We'll talk about what you can do and how you're suppose to go about making Facebook work for your business.

Remember to let Facebook know if you want to promote your business via their system. Facebook wants the site to be used as a way to socialize only. Yes, it will be easy to setup a Facebook page that advises everyone about your company. However, you should do more than just advertise the company via Facebook. Once in a while they will okay these things but if you don't want to get in trouble or get banned, you should ask for permission to do it first.

For over a year now, Facebook has been switching people's (and business's) formats to their new format called Timeline. It changes the way that people are able to see your page and it offers you more chances for customization and editing. While your profile photo should absolutely be your logo (or related to your logo), you also have a picture space behind it. You can help yourself by using this space to display photos or images of your business or of the products you are selling. Keep them landscape styled so that they will continue to look good in the space. This is not, however a space that should be left unused.

Ask questions of your followers and then consider any suggestions you receive back very seriously. You might find this is very handy for receiving new product suggestions. You might get some ideas for upcoming sales. If you see a trend emerging about a particular product suggestion, consider offering it at a promotional price for a while. This encourages interaction. People will tell friends about it and you'll get more Likes as a result. People like busy pages, so pay attention what's going on and then apply anything you see suggested.

A lot of people are tired of reading about Facebook, but there's a reason for it. That's the way it goes for very large things that have enormous impact on the lives of millions. In fact, every day Facebook becomes a more integral part of our society. If you want to take your business to greater heights, then this is the place that can help you do that.
