Election Year Blues

Bombarded with TV ads,
And the latest slogans and fads,
States in blue and red,
A lot of propaganda fed.

REFRAIN: It’s an election year,
And there’s no escaping it,
Everywhere you turn,
You’re getting stung and bit.

Whether you’re driving in your car,
Or trying to enjoy a couple at a bar,
The fanatics are everywhere,
They’re hard, so hard to bear.

It’s an election year,
And there’s no escaping it,
Everywhere you turn,
You’re getting stung and bit.

Can’t listen to tunes on Youtube,
Can’t even go in for an oil change and lube,
Away you try to run,
Begging to God you want this done.

It’s an election year,
And there’s no escaping it,
Everywhere you turn,
You’re getting stung and bit.

The climate is getting bad,
Enough to make anyone sad,
Neighbors and family ready to fight,
Trying to make each other see their version of the light.

It’s an election year,
And there’s no escaping it,
Everywhere you turn,
You’re getting stung and bit.

They haul out their graphs and charts,
And they launch their metaphorical darts,
Meanwhile you’re caught in the middle,
Of this terribly heated griddle.

It’s an election year,
And there’s no escaping it,
Everywhere you turn,
You’re getting stung and bit.

The party in power doesn’t matter,
The cats keep getting fatter,
Makes it hard sometimes to care,
Just how the candidates fare.

It’s an election year,
And there’s no escaping it,
Everywhere you turn,
You’re getting stung and bit.

Your patience is growing frail,
Trying to hide in a glass of ale,
Praying for this year to be over,
Wishing on a four-leaf clover.

It’s an election year,
And there’s no escaping it,
Everywhere you turn,
You’re getting stung and bit.
