What is a Lead Generation Website?

A lead generation website is one that inspires a visitor to make an inquiry or opt in to get further information about services and goods.

When setting up a new website for the needs of lead generation, or evolving a site that hasn't got an opt-in box, consideration should be made when selecting an e-mail program.

There are several wonderful companies that may handle all of your mails, such as Aweber and MailChimp, and these programs can be built to send out a collection of pre-written messages as quickly as somebody signs up. In most situations you can make a decision to require a double opt-in process to provide help in protecting both you and your prospects from getting penalised due to spam complaints or not. I've found requiring prospects to approve their request for more information significantly decreases the number of leads you'll eventually get.

You will also wish to write your mails to provide high value content - not just a sales spiel. Think about it. How long do you stay subscribed to amail list that offers nothing less than a pretentious sales message every other day?

Consider also the data you ask for when you design your opt-in box. Folk don't love giving out too much information initially, but always get the subscriber's first and last names and you may have a box for any other information pertinent to your business. For example, you might have a drop down box that lists the products on your site and from you can find out specifically what information your subscriber is hunting for. If you have six different products you may then build 6 different list within your e-mail program and target information and other products in particular to those people.

If you set up autoresponders or any type of email campaign, it's critical that your emails are checked and checked again. Many folks are not impressed by typos, and even more will not read amail that is a mile long. Make your emails accurate and to the point, and written in short paragraphs, in easily digestible chunks.

Once your list has grown to a respectable size, you may send out a once a month newsletter, informing subscribers about new goods and services you have added.

Address your subscriber by his first name, not "dear customer" as is typically seen, and write your copy as if you are writing to a chum, don't blind subscribers with "get this" or "buy this", it turns folks off. The easiest way effect a sale is by helping folks, by giving them topical info and anything free is good, for instance a free electronic book.

Ensure that everything you send your customer is important and of price. If your "unsubscriber" list builds too swiftly, that is a sure sign you are doing anything wrong, though you'll always get some people who unsubscribe.

So understand that your auto-responder and the emails you send out are at the heart of your lead generation website. You wouldn't have a lead generation website without it. So spend some time modifying and refining this side of your system. Don't just throw out a bunch of email pitches. Relate. Build a relationship. Ask for feedback and participation.
