Majorca, the biggest of the Balearic Islands, sees 6 million tourists every year, the majority of them families. Looking to entertain their children for a week or two, families head to this island not just for sun, sea and sand, but also for the range of fun activities that can keep the whole family entertained.
If you are staying in one of the many all-inclusive or family-friendly resorts on this island, then be sure to check out their list of children's activities, which often include dance, arts and crafts and sports clubs for children of all ages. But for those families wanting to escape the resort for a day or two, then read on.
Located in the warm Mediterranean Sea, Majorca is able to offer many outdoor water parks. A couple of the larger parks include Aquapark Magaluf and Aqualandia Water Park, both of which boast a large selection of rides, slides and pools to keep the whole family entertained for the day. There is also WesternPark Water Park, which, ideal for parents, offers relaxing jacuzzis as well. Another day, head over to Marineland, a park where families can see dolphin and sealion shows, as well as take a ride on a mock pirate ship.
For ocean lovers, Nemo Submarines offers 2-hours submarine tours, but those who don't quite have their sea-legs yet then head to Auto Safari; a ride that brings you closer to giraffes, monkeys and zebras. Children can also enjoy a few hours on one of the three mini-golf courses at Palma Nova Golf Fantasia before having a bite to eat at the 19th-hole caf.
For a more relaxing day, then of course there are the many beaches to check out. The east and south beaches get the best weather and are therefore the most popular, where children can get lost in their imaginations by exploring the golden sands, turquoise waters and hidden caves, under the careful supervision of mum and dad, of course.
