Free Online Marketing Resources for Promoting Your Business

Overview

Following is a list of various Web sites and other online tools and resources that you can utilize in order to further promote your business. These Web sites and other resources offer free publicity for your business or organization and are highly valued by the various search engines, so take advantage of them!

Because we are based in Wisconsin, you’ll notice many Milwaukee- or Wisconsin-related resources here, but don’t let that fool you. There are also many national resources listed here, as well!

WisBusiness.com

If you run a business in Wisconsin, then this site is the place to get your press releases published. Influential business and community leaders and local media outlets throughout the state are constantly checking this site out.

The metro-Milwaukee area NOW Web sites

Owned and operated by the parent company of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, these sites offer the inside scoop on individual communities - Bay View, Brookfield, Cudahy, Franklin, Greenfield, Hales Corners, Muskego, New Berlin, the North Shore communities - you name it. You can submit your own news stories and informational articles to be published on these sites.

See the following link to get started:

http://www.mycommunitynow.com

Additionally, your submitted story or article may appear in one or more print editions of the NOW weekly papers, which come out each Thursday!

MilwaukeeBusinessOpportunities.com

MilwaukeeBusinessOpportunities.com is a blog offering Milwaukee-area business news, information on local networking opportunities, exclusive interviews, and valuable tips and resources for business professionals. The blog publishes submitted press releases and news items; blurbs on upcoming events like workshops, speaking engagements, networking groups, etc.; and guest columns and articles.

Patch.com

Similar to the Milwaukee-area NOW sites, Patch is all about offering the inside scoop on individual communities – only Patch is a national company with local sites across the United States. There are a number of ways to garner free publicity from your local Patch site, like submitting a news tip, contacting the editor to set up your own blog, posting an event or announcement, and submitting a business listing to be included in the local business directory.

Scribd.com

Scribd is a document sharing site allowing you to publish and share documents and presentations like fliers, newsletters, sales brochures, catalogs, speeches, PowerPoint slides, etc. You can also easily embed your documents and presentations into your blog, Web site, and elsewhere on the Web with a simple copy/paste code, and you may attempt to generate revenue by selling your content through the site. The site accepts files in Word, PDF, Excel, and PowerPoint.

SlideShare.net

Similar to Scribd, SlideShare is a sharing site that specializes in PowerPoint presentations. Like Scribd, you can easily embed your presentations into other Web sites and blogs using a simple copy/paste code.

I-Newswire.com

This is a great site for online press release distribution. The $35 option offers a lot more value and reach than the free one.

PRLog.org

This is another great press release distribution site to look into. The site offers two different free options, along with two paid options.

HARO (Help a Reporter Out) (HelpAReporter.com)

HARO connects everyday professionals with reporters working for both traditional print and online news publications who are looking to quote you as sources for their articles! It’s free publicity at its best! There are also paid subscription options available.

GlobalTalkRadio.com

Global Talk Radio is an Internet-based radio station.

For just $3.95, you can have a brief news blurb, along with a link, placed on GTR’s homepage. There’s also a free option, but paying the $3.95 allows you to bypass the survey you have to take and the ads you have to see. You can also host your own radio show, and have ads featured on the site.
